Default automatic in neutral

i heard from a friend that it is better to put an automatic car in neutral at a stop-light instead of just keeping it in drive. it is supposed to increase the life of the trans.

i don't think would increase the life of the trans. at all cause you are still putting some stress on the trans when you shift from drive to neutral.

I'm not sure about that, but I did that once to save gas and it was kind of dangerous. I forgot that it was in neutral and we were going uphill so my car started going backwards and I almost hit the car behind me

Idk about an automatic, but I always put a manual in neutral at a stoplight.

I never heard of that before, but i doubt it would make a difference on an automatic.

Automatic is the best because you don't have to be keep changing your gears too much and its not a hassle anymore. So I like Automatic. Unlike Manual you need to change it every time.
