Default The Road-Cormac McCarthy

This book is a pretty short and easy read, a fiction story set in post-apocalyptic America in the not too distant future. It's about a man and his young son trying to survive in an ashen and burnt landscape by following the old interstate highways. Lots of action and suspense, and written in a way which makes it very easy to visualize the events. I was a little put off at first by this author's writing style, very informal and he uses a lot of dialogue. But I got used to it by the middle of the book, and started to enjoy it more thereafter.
All in all, a good read if you want a fictional survival story, but it doesn't go into too many facts and details if you like novels like that.

Nice little review.

I do like Cormac's tendency to keep the details of the characters relatively slim besides appearance, as it tends to make book more realistic. You do not find out everything about a person within such a short space of time (and if you do then they are far too open).

I may give this book a try when I have finished what I am currently reading and what I have got planned to read soon.
