I don't think it should be legalized based off the fact that it kills brain cells and makes our society dumber. Plain and simple.

Yeah I'm all for legalization. Even if it was legal and the government taxes it, people will still grow though without the license or whatever, and they can't charge you with as bad stuff as they can now. So basically a win-win situation for the government and the people.

It does not kill your brain cells.
Quote:
Government experts now admit that pot doesn't kill brain cells. This myth came from a handful of animal experiments in which structural changes (not actual cell death, as is often alleged) were observed in brain cells of animals exposed to high doses of pot.

Many critics still cite the notorious monkey studies of Dr. Robert G. Heath, which purported to find brain damage in three monkeys that had been heavily dosed with cannabis.

This work was never replicated and has since been discredited by a pair of better controlled, much larger monkey studies, one by Dr. William Slikker of the National Center for Toxicological Research( and the other by Charles Rebert and Gordon Pryor of SRI International.

(Neither found any evidence of physical alteration in the brains of monkeys exposed to daily doses of pot for up to a year.)

Human studies of heavy users in Jamaica and Costa Rica found no evidence of abnormalities in brain physiology.

Even though there is no evidence that pot causes permanent brain damage, users should be aware that persistent deficits in short-term memory have been noted in chronic, heavy marijuana smokers after 6 to 12 weeks of abstinence.

It is worth noting that other drugs, including alcohol, are known to cause brain damage.

They won't legalize it because if they do.....The drug dealers will be free to traffic the drugs. They are very dangerous (some) with hand guns loaded and will probably scam the people who wanna get high. You said tax right? Hah! No way the drug dealers will pay for taxes.

I too feel the same, Decent business doing people themselves often doesn't pay tax properly. Drug dealers going to pay tax?

And other than that, until the drug is sold illegally, many teens will not be aware very easily as they had to secretly sell their drugs. But if this becomes legal, they can easily sell drugs and students and teens will easily get used to it resulting in spoiling the their's life.

drug dealers a free to traffic drugs now.. as long as they dont get caught. but if weed became legal then the majority of dealers would be out of business because if people have the choice between safely walking into a coffee shop or w/e and buying it legally vs. buying it off of a dangerous scam-artist dealer with hand guns loaded.. most people will opt for the first one
