I believe it will come to an end. When? No one knows except for God himself. It will "come like a theif in the night." we will all be judged for our actions on Earth. Jesus will return and then the days will end as we know it. At least that's what I believe and how I feel about the issue.

why should be concerned with when the world is going to end,
the answer is yes it will end, from observations i have done most everything in this world is finite (if you can name something that's not please pm or post it here, i would love to see it, seriously post it here) with everything in the world finite, a characteristic of the universe is mortal, meaning that every thing in this universe will die, so yes the universe will end, when? only God knows the answer to that one mate |

Even scientifically it is Big Bang Theory that earth will not last forever and will be attracted towards sun when there is no more helium in Sun and so Sun can't spill out fire.

Quote:
The Big Bang theory is used to explain the expansion of the universe and the rate at which it is going. The Sun fuses hydrogen atoms together to create helium atoms (or molecules, I am not sure of their stable states). This fusion oddly results in an atom (or molecule) of lesser mass than the initial particles involved, and the seeing as information can neither be created nor destroyed (this is a fundamental rule, and will not be argued here), the matter must have been converted into energy proportional to the mass lost. This energy is what keeps the sun nice and lovely and hot. When the levels of hydrogen start to become slim, then the Sun will rely on helium in order for nuclear fusion (by contrast to fission, which is the splitting of atoms) to take place. Helium is much heavier and as a result requires greater pressure in order to be able to fuse, and this will lead to the Sun becoming a much lower temperature, and much larger (a red giant) until eventually the process is repeated and ultimately the sun will start to stagger after very few more fusion stages and eventually cease. Anyway, the point of that essay was that sadly when the Sun does start to the process of fusion using predominantly helium the size of the Sun will be such that it does in fact engulf the Earth (I have not the these calculations myself, I am merely relying on my lecturers who have degrees in this). However, this is not to say that before then we will not meet and rather unpleasant and somewhat more unexpected end before then. It is ultimately very possible we will be hit by an asteroid, although it is impossible to predict as much due to their overall size on average (1km compared to the earth of circumference ~ 24000 km at points) and their size. Fact of the matter is we would not know what had hit us. Then of course there are environmental beliefs that the planet will just unleash some natural disasters within hotspots (just look at recent earthquakes- these places are pretty regularly experiencing these problems). And of course, who could doubt simply religion/political based warfare? Before anyone says that I am inciting, simply look at the facts that religion is predominantly used as a means of justifying warfare like for example George Tamarin's studies with Israeli children (it is genuinely unnerving). As for the end of the universe, no one yet knows this fate. The universe is teetering on the balance between a great tear if the rate of expansion is too great, or the big crunch if the expansion rate is not great enough. I personally like to see that there will in fact be a big crunch and the resulting singularity will bring it all back to square one (hopefully not to the extent that we exist exactly the same again). It doesn't solve the initial "where does it all start?" problem, but it is certainly a nice way of thinking about a new universe than "a being that exists in nothing forever just decides to create everything to amuse himself", mostly because that being has done some rather nasty things.
