Default Alcoholics

My mom is an alcoholic and has brain damage due to her years of hard core drinking. How do I make her realize she is an alcoholic? She is my care and has been sober for 6 weeks, as she almost died. Whenever I bring up the subject she won't discuss it with me and gets made at me and says, "ok". That is not an answer, how can I help her, before she goes back to her home and goes back to the alcohol.

I had a friend with a similar stiuation. I somewhat feel that I lost a friend because she knew I did not approve of the rate that she drank. From which, she always went out drinking, without me. Guess what just happened over the weekend? She got hammered, and she finally got caught and given a DUI. She refused to listen to me or anyone else and now she is in real trouble. Sometimes, though, that's what it takes.

I love me some good alcohol but I don't consider myself an alcoholic..
I'd never spend my last dollar to get drunk.

I don't have any one very close to me that's an alcoholic, but I've heard how very difficult it can be for them. It is one of the hardest addictions to break, and very harfmful. My advice to anyone who is looking to quit alcohol for good is to start getting to like smoking the green. It's relatively harmless, and is scientifically proven not to cause lung cancer!

I have a friend who is a pretty heavy drinker, you may call him an alcoholic. I try not to discuss it with him because he usually just ignores whatever I say because he could care less. Now your situation must be tough because it's your own mother. the only advise I have is get hir into rehab. They are more prepared to deal with this then you are and are trained to help people out.

Alcoholism runs on my mom side of the family. My uncle was a heavy drinker. My sister was a heavy drink she could drink a 24 pack of beer a day. She was ruining every relationship that she had within our family plus she was raising a child as well. She had a serious accident and finally admitted that she had a problem. She has done serious damage to her liver though.

Yes, its better to consult a doctor for all these.

My dad was also an alcoholic like Bika's dad. But he realized how danger it is by himself and gradually decreased drinking. If your mom doesn't realize by herself, Consult a doctor.
